The awarding and supervision of international competitions is one of the main tasks of FAA. The rules – the Sporting Codes – drawn up by the Air Sport Commissions are used by national members to organise numerous competitions each year. World championships for each sport and discipline are generally held every two years, alternately with continental championships.
